Faculty of Chemistry
Chemistry is known as the magical science and has grown over the centuries to create new materials for the benefit of mankind. Whether it is in pharmaceuticals, food, fuels, plastics, nanotechnology, a deep knowledge of chemistry- atomic structure, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, kinetics, and chemical equilibrium and Chemistry provides a strong theoretical foundation in preparation, identification and properties of a inorganic and organic substances. A full fledged laboratory for synthesis, analysis and separations, ensuring safe work practices. In addition to academics, activities like quiz, poster presentations and webinars are organised to augment the knowledge. Talks by experts and visits to research institutes , industry exposure, students' experience to real life applications and problem solving and motivates students to pursue careers in industry and research. Currently , Chemistry has a strength of 150 students across 5 programmes - (B.Sc- BtMC,BTBC, BZC,MZC and MPC).Experienced and committed teaching fraternity regularly upgrade their expertise in various horizons of Chemistry.
Objectives
- To provide students with a strong foundation in the fundamental principles and theories of chemistry.
- To train students in chemical analysis, synthesis, and experimentation, ensuring proficiency in lab equipment, techniques, and safety protocols.
- To educate students with research options and procedures so they can take part in faculty-led research initiatives, internships, and undergraduate research projects
- To develop and prepare them for employment in chemistry-related disciplines, such as industry, academia, government, healthcare, and environmental science
- To encourage presentations in seminars , conferences and symposiums and participation in chemistry competitions
