Department of Life Sciences

The department of Life Sciences has multidisciplinary teaching and research with diverse disciplines of Botany, Chemistry, Zoology, Microbiology and Biotechnology. This is one of the oldest departments since its inception from 2009 commencing with undergraduate program BSc (BtMC). The department is growing leaps and bounds and introduced BZC and MZC in 2017 and 2022 respectively.

The Department has 6 faculty members with 2 Doctorates and also having CSIR-UGC NET & SET Qualifications and 3 faculty members are pursuing their PhD in their respective subjects. The faculty members adhere to the possible high standard of teaching and actively work on thrust areas of research. The department strives for discipline and dynamic learning environment through various curricular and co-curricular activities. Apart from the curriculum, it emphasizes on Value Addition Programs like Certificate Courses, Field trips, Internships, Projects creating a unique interactive and development platform. The department organises national seminars, workshops, webinars, guest lectures, intra & inter collegiate competitions to inculcate the spirit of research and professional competencies among the students.

The students are encouraged to participate in various conferences, seminars and competitions to explore and enrich their talents. To foster a deeper understanding of the conservation of creation, sustainable living and environmental responsibility, the department has established two clubs: LENVIN (Little Flower Environment Initiative) & JOHANN MENDAL CLUB.

  • To provide platform for experimental learning in Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Chemistry.
  • Equip with necessary skills to address environment, scientific and technological challenges through practical application of knowledge.

The purpose of the courses offered is to provide quality education and strong foundation to train the next generation for scientific work force which directly allows the development of novel therapeutic and improves human health through training and scientific process.
