Faculty of Zoology
The faculty of Zoology was started with its foremost objective of inculcating interest and learning all aspects of Animal Sciences and it had been working hard towards progress in the field of basic Zoology and its applied branches. It has produced 5 batches of successful graduates who are pursuing higher education in different branches of Zoology. Students have secured good ranks in Central University entrance exams as well as in State University and they are pursuing their post-graduation studies in India and as well as abroad in Zoology and its allied branches. The department also has the credit for 100% results in University Semester exams.
It started functioning with two faculty members and with the basic requirements. It had completed one MOU activity and two LOU’s with the World Wide fund (WWF), Hyderabad to carry out environment friendly projects. Zoology faculty had organised career counselling programs through the alumni for the benefit of the students. Students had represented in various National seminars and intercollege activities and brought laurels to the college. National Seminar, workshops, webinars, guest lectures, intra & inter collegiate competitions and field trips were organised to inculcate the spirit
Objectives
- Understand the basic concepts of Animal Diversity, Evolution, Physiology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Animal Biotechnology, Behaviour, Biochemical metabolisms, Vermiculture and apply it to the interdisciplinary approach of Biological Sciences.
- Expertise the laboratory skills, observation, techniques in biology and apply it for scientific investigation to promote research.
- Understanding the environmental conservation processes, the importance of diversity of organisms, their adaptations and importance of biodiversity in the ecosystem.
