Faculty of Botany

Botany offers a comprehensive education to students, interested in exploring the diverse world of plant life, ecological systems, agriculture and medicine. It is enriched with learning resources such as charts, slides, models, herbarium etc, which help the students in independent learning. To support learning and research activities Botany laboratory is equipped with a collection of various botanical specimens and tools necessary for experiments and analysis.

It is dedicated to the study of plants, their structure, functions, classification, evolution and interactions with the environment. It has dedicated staff playing a crucial role in imparting theoretical knowledge and practical skills to students organising various environmental field trips and activities .The faculty of Botany serves as a vital hub for learning plant life. It prepares students for better career opportunities in agriculture, medicine, ecology, environment and in natural flora.

Objectives

• To Acquire and demonstrate detailed knowledge of core areas of plant biology, Genetics, physiology, structural biology
• To impart the knowledge on origin, evolution, structure, reproduction and inter relationships of microbes and early plants groups
• To sensitize towards the concept of conservation and importance of biodiversity.
• Generate knowledge and produce researchers and graduates capable of providing solutions to industrial, health, agricultural and environmental challenges.
• To influence the fields of science, medicine and cosmetics.
